This course aims to provide understanding of the need for urban data democratization and its application to access urban concepts. The course will focus on:

  • understanding the need for urban data democratization,
  • how sensors can be used to generate urban data,
  • how this data can be stored and accessed via platform designed for storing and accessing crowdsourced information,
  • what kind of data can be gathered (noise, users perspective, etc), and
  • introduction to the crowdsourcing platform APIs, such as Goflow APIs, and their usage (hands on session) with the creation of a sample test website application

Other collaborators of the course were Prof. B. Finance and Prof. A Bouzeghoub. My part of the course consisted of 9 hours of teaching with 15 students in 2016 and 23 students in 2017.
