This course aimed to provide basic understanding of the network science to the masters students. The subject was interdisciplinary helped students to apply concepts to different fields. Within this course students learnt about basics of networks, tools to perform analysis of networks, dynamics of and on the networks. As a case study, they used the studied concepts and applied them to wireless networks and study dissemination of information across the network created by connected devices.

In this course, I taught about "urban data democratization and its application to access urban concepts". My responsibilities as a teacher for the above mentioned part of the course included:

  • providing understanding about the need for urban data democratization,
  • how sensors can be used to generate urban data,
  • how this data can be stored and accessed via platform designed for storing and accessing crowdsourced information,
  • what kind of data can be gathered (noise, users perspective, etc), and
  • introduction to the crowdsourcing platform APIs, such as Goflow APIs, and their usage (hands on session) with the creation of a sample test website application that proved to be useful for the projects given to the students.
